Landing pages and offers

Add offers from affiliate networks, host your own landing pages, connect a prelander to the offer, and keep the click ID along the way.

An offer is where you get paid: usually a page on an affiliate network, sometimes your own funnel. A landing page (or prelander) is an optional page before it that prepares the visitor. Both are attached to streams.

Adding an offer

  1. Open Offers and create one.
  2. Paste the offer URL from the network.
  3. Add the click ID in the parameter the network documents, for example sub_id or aff_sub. Without it, conversions cannot be matched.
  4. Optionally choose the affiliate network from the list, set the payout and a daily cap.

Network presets fill in the parameter names and the postback macros for you.

Adding a landing page

Use a URL if the page is hosted elsewhere, or upload it as a ZIP archive and let the tracker host it. Uploaded pages can use PHP, so forms and server-side scripts keep working. A built-in editor covers quick text and image changes.

Passing the click ID and your parameters

Every parameter of the tracking link, such as utm_source, sub1 to sub30, placement or a name of your own, is saved with the click. Any of them can be used in a landing page or offer URL as a macro: the parameter name in curly braces. Nothing is passed on by itself: a page receives exactly what its URL in the tracker asks for.

  • Click ID: put {click_id} into the offer URL under the name the network reads, for example ?aff_sub={click_id}, or enter that name in the campaign field for the click ID parameter and the tracker adds it for you.
  • Your parameters: a landing page URL such as https://lander.example.com/?utm_source={utm_source}&placement={sub1}&cid={click_id} receives the source, the placement and the click ID of every visitor.
  • The names are yours: use whatever your page or network expects. A parameter the click does not have becomes empty; {ifempty:utm_source:direct} sets a default.

The button on your landing page must not link to the offer directly. Link it to the tracker instead: on a page uploaded to the tracker, use the {offer} macro as the button link; on a page hosted elsewhere, use https://your-tracking-domain/api/click/offer?click_id= followed by the click ID from the page address. The tracker then picks the offer from the stream, counts the landing page click and fills in the offer URL macros exactly as on a direct click. A hard-coded offer link loses the click ID and the landing page statistics.

Check one path end to end after every change: tracking link, landing page, button, offer. The click ID and your parameters should be in the offer URL at the end.

Lead forms

If your own page collects leads, the form can send each lead to a partner's CRM and keep the click ID with it, so the partner's status updates come back as conversions.

Good practice

  • Keep pages light. Every second of load time loses mobile visitors.
  • Name pages so a report is readable: vertical, angle, language.
  • Retire losing pages from rotation instead of deleting them; their history stays useful.
